About Philip

The son of Holocaust survivors, Philip was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec. He spent his formative years as a member of Montreal’s Dora Wasserman Yiddish Theatre. Philip performed in a wide variety of roles in plays by Sholem Aleichem, Isaac Bashevis Singer, Sholem Asch, and Abraham Schulman, among others, in productions in Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Boston, Buffalo, and New York’s 92nd Street Y.

After working as a branding designer and writing extensively about branding, Philip embarked on his latest journey as a playwright several years ago, serendipitously by responding to his then 6-year-old great-niece’s letter to the tooth fairy. Philip soon discovered that a voice inside him compelled him to speak out – on issues more meaningful than tooth fairies (however relevant they are to young children). He has used incidents, or observations from his life to tell stories of people – mostly  – grappling with love, loss, and regret.

Philip and his family live in Toronto, Ontario.
